Case Study: "Invisible" Audio and the Boardroom

The Challenge
For the new ProMedica Headquarters in downtown Toledo, Ohio, Leon dealer ProVideo Systems was tasked with creating an “invisible” audio system in a space where three of the walls were glass and the architects and interior designers deemed the ceiling off limits to maintain the integrity of their design. For this 50+ person executive boardroom, it was important to the client that all of the AV components remained as hidden as possible—without compromising on audio quality.

The Solution
Working closely with the integrator, architects, and interior designers, the Leon team looked to develop a solution that would meet the audio demands of the space while remaining unobtrusive and aesthetically pleasing. Without having the ceiling or walls to utilize, Leon and ProVideo Systems worked together to design a solution for the space they could use: the boardroom table.

After obtaining approval from ProMedica on the concept, Leon engineered a completely custom 24-channel audio system comprising of 8 curved Horizon Ultima LCR soundbars, and also 2 Aaros Series subwoofers—all built directly into the table. The table was divided into 6 zones, with the speakers installed on custom integration mounts and secured to the underside of the table. Easily controlled by a Crestron system, sound is distributed evenly throughout the entire room, allowing for audio to reach every person at the table during the executive meetings and video and teleconferences that are held in the space.
